Fox Run Vineyards Makes its First Rosé

Fox Run Vineyards on the west side of Seneca Lake is making its first ever rosé wine. This wine is made from Lemberger, an Austrian red grape also know as Blaufrankisch, that is grown by a number of vineyards in the Finger Lakes. Several wineries make a dry-style Lemberger red wine but in cooler vintages like this year, it is likely that more wineries will be making a rosé wine as well. It also helps that dry rosés are becoming increasingly popular with wine consumers both during the holidays and the summer months.

Enjoy this video highlighting this year's rosé production featuring the winemaking team of Peter Bell and Trisha Renshaw. You even learn how Brix (sugar) content is measure. Look for this wine to be available some time in early 2010. Pretty cool...
